Wild West City

An Adventure Like No Other

Wild West City opened its doors in the spring of 1957 creating an authentic western experience, a true model of Dodge City, Kansas in the 1800’s. Wild West City presents an interactive adventure bringing tales of the wild west to life through historical characters, dramatizations and demonstrations by period craftsmen. Enjoy a getaway to the beautiful, scenic Skylands Region of Sussex County for folks who want to disconnect from the modern world and reawaken the spirit of the American West.

For those with a “hankering for history” we have enough authentic period memorabilia to put most museums to shame. Many of Main Street’s buildings are accurate reproductions and loaded with antiques, not to mention our extensive collection of Native American art and artifacts. You will learn about late 19th-century farming tools, period dressmaking, blacksmithing and more. But watch out, if you break the law, you may end up in one of our circa-1890 jail cells. At Wild West City there is something for everyone!

Visit us today and join an experience 200 years in the making…Wild West City, where the West is FUN!

What is Wild West City?2020-09-01T17:43:56-04:00

Wild West City is New Jersey’s only western theme park featuring nonstop live action entertainment all day long. Blank firing replica firearms are part of the cowboy’s attire and are used in most, but not all, of the shows. Wild West City would prefer to educate the public about the safe use of firearms. However, if a person is concerned about the content of the shows or the use of firearms they can check with staff who can explain which shows utilize firearms and suggest other activities during the times such shows are presented.
